Educators often want to leverage the latest news and information to create engaging lessons, stay informed on current events, and support student learning. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Web Search (for teachers only), a new capability that brings real-time information directly into MagicSchool’s teacher AI.
With Web Search, educators can now access live data, recent research, and current events—bridging the gap between AI’s knowledge cutoff and the ever-evolving world of education.
How Web Search works
The new Web Search capability integrates with our Smartest and Fastest models, ensuring that educators receive both speed and depth when searching for information.
Teacher AI is a powerful tool in education, but without real-time knowledge, it can sometimes feel limited. Web Search ensures that educators can:
- Stay informed on breaking news, research, and even curriculum standards
- Find the most current and relevant examples to create engaging lessons
- Access reliable, cited sources directly within MagicSchool
Imagine creating a group project on the Israel-Palestine conflict or generating a presentation on the latest tariffs. The possibilities are endless.
Web Search in Teacher AI tools
We’ve made some updates to the platform! Now, in select tools, you can find a Web Search toggle that allows you to enable or disable this feature.

Ideas for using Web Search in the classroom
Web Search opens up new possibilities for integrating the latest information on the web into lesson plans. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Connecting current events to the past
A history teacher leading a lesson on media’s influence on public opinion can use Web Search to help students compare past and present. Instead of relying solely on historical examples, the teacher asks Raina:
"Find current examples of how news media or social media has influenced public opinion on major issues in 2025."
With Web Search enabled, Raina pulls in real-world examples of ongoing political events, protests, or major policy debates. Students then analyze these modern examples alongside historical case studies like Yellow Journalism in the late 1800s or the role of television in the Civil Rights Movement.
By making direct connections between history and current events, students gain a deeper understanding of the media's evolving role in shaping public perception.
Creating math problems from recent sports games
Let’s say a 10th-grade math teacher wants to create a lesson on statistics and probability by utilizing current data from the 2025 March Madness tournament. They ask Raina, using Web Search:
"Can you provide the latest statistics from the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, such as team win-loss records, average points scored, and notable player performances?"
With Web Search enabled, Raina retrieves up-to-date tournament data, including:
- Team Performance: Win-loss records and average points scored per game.
- Player Statistics: Individual player points, rebounds, and assists.
- Game Outcomes: Details of recent upsets and high-scoring matches.
The teacher can then create math problems such as:
- Calculating Averages:If Duke scored 82, 76, and 89 points in their last three games, what is their average score?
- Probability:Given that there have been 12 upsets in 36 games, what is the probability of an upset occurring in the next game?
- Player Analysis:A player has an average of 7 rebounds per game over 5 games. How many total rebounds has the player achieved?
Exploring the latest in sustainability
The "No Buy 2025" movement has been gaining momentum, encouraging individuals, particularly Gen Z and millennials, to reduce nonessential spending and focus on sustainability. [GQ]
A 10th-grade science teacher wants students to explore recent advancements in sustainable technology. They ask Raina:
"What are the latest innovations in sustainable technology reported since March 10, 2025?"
With Web Search enabled, Raina provides up-to-date information on recent developments, such as:
- New biodegradable materials reducing plastic waste
- Advancements in renewable energy sources like solar and wind power
- Innovative water purification systems
Students can then research one of these innovations and present how it could impact environmental sustainability. This exercise encourages critical thinking and connects classroom learning to current scientific and environmental trends.
Get started with Web Search
Starting today, educators will see the Web Search button in Raina. Simply switch it on for any query requiring live, up-to-date information.
Stay tuned as we continue to roll out this feature across other tools in the coming weeks, and explore the many ways it can enhance your educational journey.
We’re excited to see how educators use Web Search to bring fresh, relevant information into their classrooms. Try it out this week and experience the next evolution of teacher AI.
